I was a guest speaker at a multi-national conference. The young men and women represented the nations of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and the Sudan. I was so intrigued by the Sudan pastors and people after hearing of the the persecution reported in the west. They really didn't talk about it much. Their focus was on the salvation of souls and deliverance of their people. I was truly humbled because I was ministering to pastors, young men and women who had seen such ravages of humanity and were laying their lives down for Jesus and their people. However, it was the insight to the horrors of the Rwandan people that stunned my imagination.. In 1994, during a three-month period between April and June,approximately one million people were brutally mass-murdered in a geneocide effort against the Tutsi's and their sympathizers by the Hutus. This short but tragic event destroyed the country's infrastructure, administrative and judicial systems, along with the social fabric of the people.

Alex and a team of pastors were the first to come to Rwanda after the killings. He said the smell of death was in the air wherever he went. They slept in destroyed quarters with broken windows. But they preached the gospel, the love of Jesus, the message of forgiveness and ministered to many. Many, many pastors came to met him and all called him their spriritual father in the faith because he came at at time when no one else was there for them.

As we entered the multi-national conference, it was clear to me that Apostle Alex Mitala has also been very much of part of the restoration of the church of Jesus in Rwanda. Many of the pastors and people knew him and loved him. I was so humbled when they asked if he was to minister and he told them he had brought his friend, Apostle Franklin Santagate to bring the Word. Alex has called me Apostle sent he sent me an email last year and told me that after much prayer he felt strongly that was the call on my life. He is about the fourth person to state the same thing.
